Lessons In Nature Education Inc. is primarily a wilderness or primitive skills education mentoring project. The point of L.I.N.E. is not to teach physical, spiritual, mental or emotional living skills, but rather to help students develop their skills so that they can teach them to others. We emphasize extensive practical experience or dirt time. Remember that you cannot effectively teach a skill until you have lived it and it becomes a part of you.

Students of Lessons In Nature Education Inc. events are encouraged to take comprehensive notes during all classes, and to journal their experiences from the trips, quests and other excursions. Participants are advised to submit copies of their notes in a typed, outline style format each quarter for review by their personal or group mentors. These notes should be based on what they have learned, and include short reflection stories of their personal experiences with the skills. These stories and outlines are for their use when they are presented with an opportunity to teach or lead a skills workshop or demonstration.

The L.I.N.E. project is directed by Joe Beardsley, Alissa and Geoff Barnes, all long time student of primitive skills, wilderness living and all things nature. Their studies have led them to classes taught by Tom Brown Jr. of Tracker School, Tom Brown III of Primitive Arts Collective, Eddie Starnater of Practical Primitive, Jon Young of Wilderness Awareness School, Frank and Karen Sherwood of Earthwalk Northwest, Ben Sanford of Tribal Edge, and many others. They previously worked together for several years running a project called Back 2 Earth School. If you would like to become a participant of L.I.N.E. or you have any skills that you would be willing to share, teach or mentor someone in, send an e-mail to the address at the bottom of the page.

Lessons In Nature Education (L.I.N.E.) attempts to comply with all ADA policies and guidelines. If you have a disability we will work with you to ensure that you are able to participate in programs or activities.
